Summer has arrived

After the coolest July around here that i can ever remember summer seems to be poking its face.
90 2 today with high humidity, 95 tommorow and perhaps breaking an all time record for a high. Have not had back to back 90 degree days yet this summer very unusual. The coming week mid 80s just in time . Some figs are starting to get pale on the HC tree , Sals is still green along with the other trees but that should change soon i hope.
It will be interesting in coming years to see how some of the types i have ripen earlier as advertised like pastiliere and ronde, negretta perhaps, out of the 15 dark types i currently have i will have to keep better notes on which type does what and when and slowly over next 5 years sort them out to see which ones taste to my likeing and get rid of the duplicate ones if they are to similar to make room for perhaps others to try. One day we intend on moving and i will have to prepare cuttings and grow them at the right time so all the ones i want will be in 1 gallon pots at that particular time. Northern part of Florida as of now looks enticeing but thats subject to change.

Hi Martin,

When you said "northern Florida was looking good to ya when you move to a more Fig friendly climate, I had a flashback to my Days when I use to have to work for a living (pre 99)

My Wife and I were just a truckin on I 95 headed north in Fla. with "snow bird cars" going to Cape Cod, the traffic was at a standstill and there was a Pickup truck in front of us that had a bumper sticker on it that said "When I get old and retire I'm going up North and drive slooooow in the left lane".....I thought Yep, makes sense to me :-)
