Hi,
still not running out of space but would like to spread some pots throughout my property.
about 15 % of my balcony gets almost no direct sun but the ambient temperature is intense and days are long. does anyone (living in cali? )  have any idea regarding the performance in  some shade.

will the figs ripen well? taste wise ?

Thanks

some sun is needed to have a better crop. i only use shade for accumulating new cuttings until they can work with sun. i did have few plants in mostly shaded area last yr, but they were young cuttings and i didn't expect much from them. surprise to me, St. Rita and Niagara Black along with few USDA/UCD all gave rather nice figs.

more sun=more fruit, sweeter fruit,  less sun=longer limbs, less fruit, bigger leaves, much bigger overall size of tree (which can be overwhelming sometimes)

You may try aluminum foil inside the pot to throw more light up to the tree. I use white paper plates, cups, egg cartons, car windshield shade basically anything that can reflect light......... I post them on my fence and around the trees.
