Super "Eye"

I saw this on several varieties last season, but this was extreme this year.

This is Atreano-OR (Belleclare). The scales around the eye go 1/2 way u into the flesh of the fig.

Anyone else seen this?

Here you go Jon the picture right side up so no one gets a kink in there neck : )

Looks like the eye did not "indent" itself thru to the middle but that part just did not color like the rest least to me looking at it.

What caught my eye was the seeds in the meat part (white) of the inside of fig if one looks closely which i have not seen before.

I looked at the original (larger file), and I am not seeing the seeds in the "white" part that you mentioned.

You may be right that a portion is not colored up, rather the the eye being extended into the flesh, but that still doesn't explain what/why it is that way, and why several different varieties exhibited the behavior last season, but not previously.

I thought i saw several seeds (clear colored) near where stem of fig is the bottom part of upright picture.

I thought i remember you posting something similar last seson .
If memory serves me correctly it did indent good ways down and was same color as pulp on that one.
Which was also interesting.
