Supposed to be "Celeste"

I bought this little tree in February from a Tractor Supply in north Florida. The tag said it was Celeste, but since I have a Celeste, I know this isn't the same. I'm hoping I can get an ID from all the fig experts on this website. It's only been in the ground a few months, but has figs ripening already. I had the first one a week ago. Pretty bland. I had the second today and have some pictures. It was a little better. Reminded me of a sweet (not tart) plum, but kind of watered down. It looks like it's going to grow some more figs. I think you can see that in one of the pictures. Also, the first one had a closed eye. This one is open and has tiny little ants crawling out of it...Well here they are:

uh oh...my pictures are too big. How do you upload your pictures here?

Here they are:

This story seemed familiar. This tree was also bought as a Celeste.
Hope that helps

Not Celeste

I wonder if it could be Violette de Bordeaux?

Just a guess but maybe LSU Purple.

Unusual to have such dark skin and such a light flesh. Skin seems too smooth for a VdB. Actually could be a Black Mission, despite the shape. The size is there. Need to see some good leaf pictures.

A better pic of the leaves would be helpful, but from what I can see the leaves don't look like VDB leaves.

I agree with Jon.  The leaves are identical to the Black Mission I bought from a local nursery that came from Monrovia Nursery in CA.

I bought my "Celeste" last year - It looks just like yours and was ID'd as LSU Purple.  This fig might be a breba.  Mine had a breba and was quite large, the taste was so-so.

The main crop was very good, I am looking forward to this years crop!

Wow, thanks all for your replys. From searching the internet I was thinking maybe LSU Purple too. Will have to take a good look at the Black Mission now. I'll get some leaf pics on here too.

JoAnn749, most of your fruit pictures look like mine but I did notice one thing different. My little figlets start out green and stay green until they start to mature. They plump up green and then turn dark purple. Some of the smaller figlets in your pictures were purplish. By the way, your tree is gorgeous. I'm apologizing now, before I post the leaf pictures, for the way mine looks!

Here are some leaf pictures and a picture of the tag. Also have a question about the eye. Can the same tree produce some with open and some with closed or much smaller eyes? Also, I actually have two trees together. They were so close and tight in the pot that I couldn't separate them. The original fruit pics above were from the "front" tree and the one at the bottom here is from the "back" tree. The eyes do look slightly different to me. The first one I ate last week was from the back tree and I thought had a closed eye. It was much more bland than the one from the front tree.

The first two pictures above are from the front tree and pictures 3 and 5 are from the back tree.
