surprise in my root cup

This morning I did an autopsy on a dead cutting. The cutting showed nice root against the cup wall so it had me puzzled. I slowly removed the root ball an put it on the table and started to remove the soil mix from around the cuttings. All of a sudden I realized there were things moving all over the table. I finally caught up with one and this is what they were.

Small frogs of some sort.

I had on occasion found adults (3/4") in my bins but had no idea that they were breeding in my cups. I doubt that they were the cause of death to the cutting. The cutting was not rotted but it was drying. The roots seems OK, some were still growing, nice and white. I cut the top of the cutting and put it back in a cup. It's a rare one and I hope that it finds a way to get growing again.
