Hello All.

I've been wondering about self watering containers for figs,Im aware of Bill from new jersey and have seen his set up on this site, but when I see various pics posted and fig tree writings I dont seem to come across to many with swc.Im curious as to wether there are good or bad results regarding this pot method. If anyone else has tried this I would love to hear your experiences.

Thanks all
George

I did.
I have planted a tree in a self watering container I got for bill. It works great. However you still have to keep watering more than once a day. I think you can obtain the same results from having a tree planted in a good drained soiless mix and using the right fertilizer. When planting in a self watering container you have to use composted soil, the heavy stuff that absorbs the moisture quicker.
Bill loves it, and it is showing great results for him. I don't think he had tried other methods. He doesn't have any trees in the ground.

Hmmm... are you sure! I do not even do that with my 'regular' potted  figs...

When I visited Bill it was at beginning of summer. His trees are large and require frequent watering, the water reservoir in the container can't keep up supplying the tree. He told me that he fills it up twice a day.
