Dale, They look good. Mr. Chiappetta stopped by my house a week ago. I mentioned that the figs that have grown on my young trees were reddish. He was surprised and said his are usually dark purple. Maybe when our trees get older the figs will darken up.

Dale, Did it have a melon flavor? How did your Troiano Calabrese taste? Mine should ripen pretty soon.

They were the first to ripen on their respective plants. I picked them the day after a sorely needed rain. The Troiano Calabrese is in a five gallon bucket. It was sweet with just a few seeds, peachy-melon, but a little flat, which I will attribute to the age of the plant and the cool weather we have experienced this summer. The Chiapetta I picked because it split. It probably needed a day or two longer on the tree, which is in a one gallon pot. It was subtly more intense and complex with even fewer seeds. I expect each to improve. Today I had two Blue Celeste from a tree that dropped most of its fruit (darn). They were definitely sweeter than either of the above, but also much smaller.
