Swelling Bifara breba fig burst overnight!
I was watching a breba fig on my Bifara tree for the last few days hanging close to the ground and swelling. Yesterday morning it was smooth with no crack when watering this plant. This afternoon I found it with an inch and half wide split in the tennis size fig. Bifara main crop is purple/dark but this breba was very light purple and somewhat sweet. It has not been raining for the last few days but probably the previous weeks rains may be the cause of the split.
The 1.5" cut you see is the natural split and no knife has been used. I thought there will be no splitting in Zone 5.
