I had seen that documentary on PBS TV 'The Queen of Trees' a while back ago.
( was recommended by someone from the GW/FF, forgot who, sorry).
Just found another similar 'video' that I am trying to watch right now, title:
'Video of the interaction between figs and fig wasps'.
site:
http://www.figweb.org/Interaction/Video/index.htm
try it out...
George (NJ).
P.S. Amazing! It is all about details on one particular fig wasp/ fig species.
You (fignuts) aught to see too!
P.S.S. In a way, I am very happy that there is such a thing called
'the common fig' that can fruit without them bugs, here in NJ!
(no viable seeds though).
P.S.S.S. Also see Ray Givan's 'The Weird Sex Life of the Fig' at
http://home.planters.net/~thegivans/figsex.html
also notice the short/LONG female flower stigma that may inhibit the wasp
from laying eggs because its obisoritory(sp) may not be long enough, which
makes the fig fruit cleaner where the wasp is present. Amazing indeed!
