Synthetic Fleece easy winter protection????

So the video I am posting is part two of the video, if you want to see part one just check it out.   This guy is in my zone, 7a he is near Asheville NC.

Can fig protection be as easy as wrapping your plants in this synthetic fleece?  Please give me some thoughts...  I was originally going to do the leaf method but it seems like he just wrapped the "winning" fig tree a few times.

Actually this guy is in 6b which is even better!

That's a heavy duty frost blanket. It can be found in wider pieces elsewhere. It seems like someone posted about using it inside an unheated greenhouse to protect figs.

Doesn't that guy get snow and good wind blasts ?
I'm sure those protections wouldn't handle thee winter here, except if he used better posts to make those protections much more stronger.
The bags over the leaves would fly away here ... How do I know ? Well, I tried it of course ...

He lives in zone 6b, what zone are you in?

Do you have in ground figs?  If so, how do you protect your plants in your zone?

We don't get much snow either.  What varieties do you have in the ground?
