Syrian Bukraiti Unk 1-1-2015

Hello Everyone,
This is a fig I picked today 1-1-2015. It is the first fig of the year. Our winter is warmer than last year.
This might be a Bukraiti or a Bouidi, I don't know. I only know that it tastes very good.
I picked this and shared it with my grandmother.
Here is a picture of the fig from above.

This is a picture of the eye. It has a pretty open eye.

This picture shows the side and overall shape of the fig.

This is what it looks from inside.

Here is a close up for all you honey fig lovers ;)

The taste resembled a very strong melon flavour. Cantaloupe and honey dew mixed with honey with a slight fig hint and a minimal seed crunch. The skin was very soft and melted with the interior when I bit into it. It was a juicy fig.

The next two photos are for the two dominant leaf patterns.

Enjoy :)

There are better ones
Best for sun drying

One note though there is "sfari biadi "and just a "biadi" , the sfari is yellow bit they are both for drying.

Really nice looking fig, congrats.

Hi Mohammad,

I'm not good in identifying figs yet and was wondering if the one you are showing could be this variety that I was trying to germinate (unsuccessfully) from seeds. We get this from Ethnic store, they come from Iran. They are very sweet and ideal for serving with hot fresh tea.

Edit: Here's the link to the thread I had opened regarding this variety.
Tiny miracles in a package :)

Congrats on the fig. Whatever it is, it's a fig and it looks good.

I don't think so, mine got pollinated once and size was big. The caprified one tasted like dried figs with a more refreshing sweetness like a honey dew I think. This one; however, was sweeter and the taste of melon was stronger the hint of fig it had. We both tasted it and agreed it tasted like a very sweet melon with honey. I can say that they dry on the tree if left forgotten. They develop tough skin when drying so I eat them before. If I wanted dried figs I would buy them from the stores but fresh ones you cannot get ripe ones. They sell these Iranian dried figs here too by the kilos :)
here is a link to the pollinated one:

And thanks guyseveryone above.

Beautiful figs..

And thank you, Eli, for the link.  Fascinating blog site!

That is a nice looking fig Mohammad.. It looks different to me than the fig posted by Eli with its golden interior, where as the Bukarati has a red interior. The Bukarati looks similar to the fig Sumacki grown by Bass, that may be the same fig found by Sami Kassoum in the garden of a Sufi Mosque. He offers this fig as Sumaki on EBay. It seems to have a darker red interior than the Bukarati posted here.

Thanks everyone.
I think it is behaving weird. It is dropping the smaller figs now. Seems it realized just now that it is winter time lol.

Hey Eli.
Thanks for the awesome pics(fig tree and olive tree in background) and of course the very nice link(the table with the plate full of figs and the coffee)
Bring back beautiful memories from home .
Thanks again and keep the posts coming!

Hey Mohammad!
Very nice looking fig and according to the taste description sounds delicious ! Is it inground or in a pot and how cold is the winter there? You are very fortunate to be eating fresh figs this time of the year! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Chris!
It is inground. Winter temps do not go under 10C. I have never seen them go lower than that.
