Take a chill pill

I take a day off to go and take fig cuttings, and way too many people  decide to become a cannibals. Now maybe everyone has cabin fever because they are stuck inside for the winter: I don't know. I really don't want to have to delete a lot of stuff, but a lot of members need to take a chill pill, stop sniping at other members and get their minds back on figs. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but everyone else is also entitled to offer their different opinions without being assaulted.

Should I take names and put them on the "no cuttings for you list"?

Thank you Jon.

Everyone is doing better. Thank you for Encanto Honey! I am thrilled and obviously so happy.....

Thanks god we have Jon.

Jon are those cuttings you are for Scion exchange meeting, what varieties are you going to have there.

It's all good, now!

Thanks, Jon.  About the scion exchange?  Is this with the CRFG San Diego Chapter?  Or, for your annual cuttings?

My chill pill comes in liquid form, and I try not to take it before Friday :)))

I'm with you Pete I prefer Cognac chilled on the rocks. People need to chill out and enjoy life and there figs. There's so much in life to enjoy then wasting time arguing about crazy stuff. Life is precious.

Cuttings are for the annual sale.

My understanding is that they will not accept fig cuttings at the CRFG scion exchange this year because of concerns over ACP. Cuttings are not an issue, but they are apparently being a little over cautious. Each chapter seems to have their own view.

Jon, helps us newbies, what is ACP?

Yeah Jon. I am waiting for spring to come....its soooo close. We need a bunch of delicious fig pic's Jon.

I second Grasa's question.  What's ACP?

ACP means Asian Citrus Psyllid, its the vector for Citrus Greening. A big issue for the citrus industry. Supposedly, figs can potentially harbor the vector. That is why the chapters don't want to exchange cuttings.

Thanks, Jon.  Thought Tom del Hotal cleared that up?  Maybe the decision is still out.  I think we're doing figs up here for the N. County Chapter, but I'll check with Cory just to make sure.  Great, looking forward to your annual sale!  Like I need another fig cutting at this point, lol!  My greenhouse runneth over.  Just wait until they need to get potted up!

I though it stood for Another Chill Pill :-)

Dang, was hoping to get fig cuttings at the CRFG Santa Clara this Saturday. I'll report back whether they have them or not.

Maybe everyone should take fig pills instead.. :)

Thanks, Jon,

We'll have figs in NorCal CRFG exchanges.  Dormant fig plants and propagation material are exempt from the quarantine.  Someone not in management at CRFG suggested that fig scions be banned but I haven't heard of any chapters that have actually agreed to do so.  Also, to be clear, figs aren't hosts for greening disease, just found to have been a host for the vector, ACP.

Welcome back Teacher!  That'll teach to take a day off and leave the house unattended!   Hehehe.

Harvey, I've been a CRFG member but never got to attend any scion exchanges...

Bass, I'm a member of the parent organization as well as four chapters and sometimes make it two three or more exchanges within a few weeks.  I plan to pick up a feijoa plant or two at an upcoming exchange (custom grafted for me).

Unfortunately, the Redwood Empire chapter's exchange this year is on the same day as when we go to the Walk For Life so we'll miss it.  Also conflicts with the Lindcove citrus tasting event.  Rats!

It is obviously time to bump this up to the top again.

Thanks Jon,
The voice of reason is most appreciated!  I'm glad that you dusted this one off and brought it back to the top.

Figs are such a joy!

HOW BOUT THOSE FIGS!!!!

how 'bout them figs? can't wait till summer. now i'm looking into carnivorous plants :))) remind me of "little shop of horror".

edit: i'm gonna take my chill pill that comes in 16oz black can and powered by nitrogen. been running darn cold for what seems like 2 months and it's still not going away.
