A few years ago i still was free of my "Fig collection" virus. I already was starting to collect other fruit types for my orchard but i had not gotten to figs yet.

Browsing through some photos i found one taken from my room's window when i stayed at a bed and breakfast about 200km from where i live. I had forgotten about that place.

I spend a wonderful day over there. The place had a very old orchard with lots of different fruit types (also several different fig trees) and lots of food products on the table were produced on location, including a very tasty fig jam.

I remembered asking what figs were used to make the jam and they said that they were from the fig trees i could see by opening the front door. They didn't know how many years they had, or the variety, just that they were very, very old, being there many years before their father bought the property.

I left the following morning without even asking for some cuttings. No need to say that seeing these photos and remembering what i ignored, i will have to go by that place again, sooner than later.






Talk about missing opportunities....

I'd give them a call and tell them the same story, then offer to pay shipping for some cuttings!  Maybe offer them some cuttings of your own trees too.

The blocks of Rocks on the ground-are they part of a rocky terrain or were put by man?

It's crazy how that happens. I was in azores Portugal with my Air force Unit and I remember seeing figs everyhere. I was not into figs then, had I known better I would have had clippers with me. The people in Azores Portugal are really nice.

Hope you get to return to that place.

In the background, to the right, you can see a stone wall and a bench that are man made, but i believe most of the stones on the ground are natural occurring (some kind of magmatic rock, i don't remember if it was granite)

I know what you mean. A few years ago i was in several equivalent places and my interests were not into figs yet (lots of more wonderful opportunities lost that i now regret)

It's an isolated rural bed and breakfast in the Bombarral region (don't remember exactly the name of the place - that's the main problem, finding it again...)
