This is very similar to Sycamour fig, but it's native to the Indian mountains.http://www.fruitipedia.com/taryambal-Ficus%20roxburghii.htm
Bass,I found this tree available at Yucca Do Nursery in Texas: http://www.yuccado.com.Here's the reply from them as to availability:"The Ficus ariculata is currently listed online but our supplies are running low." (Taryambal Fig Synonyms: Ficus auriculata, Ficus macrophylla.)Interesting tree to have. It looks amazing full grown. The leaves are huge!http://natureproducts.net/Forest_Products/Ficus/Ficus_auriculata.html Sue
They have a fruiting one at Quail Gardens near the back parking lot. I have some seeds, somewhere, but did not know they were edible. The fruit is quite large, close to the size of a tennis ball.
Jon,I know there's a couple Sycamore figs growing in san diego. Were you able to locate some?
