good looking cutting there tony. i have a few like that myself, but not many. how many buds are there i see what looks like about 6

7 up top but 3 aren't opened yet
And theres 2 further down
And some of the buds are like double buds its crazy I was extremely happy when I seen this and cut it off.
Also has a great root system as well

instant tree, i would love to see a pic of this thing in summertime.

Oh you will it grows literally like a weed the owner put her cutting directly in the ground and the second season it was 5x5 and had loads of ripe fruit im hoping to have the same luck I told her I would try to id it here and then let her know what shes got or should I say what we got. And if for whatever reason my cutting fails im allowed to airlayer it.

nice job... Tony  looking good

Hey deerhunter ......16b rotary

Wow Tony!  My VdB cuttings are all spoken for, but it has many terminal bud cuttings on most branches.  It's not in ground like your neighbor's tree, so the cuttings aren't as fat.  They are shorter, probably, but lots of potential in them.  I hope they grow as well for the recipients as yours have done for you!

Thanks for sharing!

Oh man I love it when there are multiple branches forming on a cutting like that. Most people don't like terminalcuttings, very nice jobwith this one Tony!

Just my opinion terminal bud cuttings are as Tony the Tiger would say
There Great !
Makes it easy to make nice tree shaped form.
Course its the wrong color type just my opinion once again.

I've had a few terminal bud cuttings but the terminal bud dries up.

How do you do it Tony?

Sp moss until roots are exploding then pot it up 70/30 perlite potting soil in south facing window

Mine dried up before roots appeared :(

I keep in a bin with moist moss in boiler room at 80 degrees for prob 2 weeks the bin is like a shoe box but tupperware type it works great look at my first couple posts you will see my setup and progress

I don't have a boiler room - we have forced air heat/ac, no basement or useable attic :(

Some of the things I miss about house on LI.

Hi Jo-Ann

We don't have a nice source of constant heat either (like boiler room) so I have my tupperware bin, full of sphagnum moss and cuttings resting on a normal heating pad (the old kind that don't automurn off). This arrangement keeps everything inside warm (75ish) and moist. I then have this whole configuration sitting in my closet on a wire mesh clothing shelf so thre are no drafts and basically dark.

TonySac, very nice cuttings and terminal bud growth!

Looks great Tony!  I have the same luck with terminal cuttings.

I like it. fantastic job tony

I like terminal buds also. I have wood heat so the temp is not consistent. I had to go with heating mats under totes to keep it moist and warm. My setup is like Mark's except I put it in the laundry room.
Hey Tony ~  terminal buds for you!

I will say terminal bud cuttings are harder to ship.  You can't lay them next to each other because they are sticking out at different angles.  Kinda hard to find a proper container.  Perseverance!!

Tony,
Thanks for posting, Great pictures.
I don't like terminal bud cuttings, because they have been consistently slow growing. But I had several tips left over after packaging pruned limbs, so I set up an experiment. These were cut around November 6, 2012 and were callused in a vase (summer rooting method) for 6 weeks (note attached picture, of current cuttings in vase), then put into cups. They were never placed in humidity dome and have been in a west facing window in an unheated room (45 to 65 Deg. F). These cuttings have never been warmed up other than by the sun. These picture were taken 10 minutes ago. I am growing several dozen terminal and small caliper cuttings of 6 different unknown fig varieties with this method.

<Edit> Jo-Ann, The vase was placed near a window at room temperature (60 - 70 Deg F). This method is from this forum and is referred to as a summer rooting method. It works great for green cuttings, just remove all the leaves. These cuttings were not fully dormant when they were cut in November, the trees had not seen their first frost (Bronx, NY).

They look great!  The next time I have terminal bud cuttings I will try it this way.  Just one question -for now, where did you have the vase before cupping?

Thanks Sarah looking forward to getting them .
