texas blue giant

I planted a 'Texas Blue Giant' fig this past spring (aprox 4' tall plant)  It produced 4 figs this fall about the size of very large strawberry's.  However yesterday I went out and found 2 laying on the ground so I ripped them open and they are both like the one from earlier in the season.  Dry on the inside with the consistency of an artichoke heart.  Does this fig have to be caprified? (sp?)  I got it with the thought that It would produce figs without the little wasp.  I'm pretty new to figs so if this sounds silly I apologize in advance but I don't wanna be wasting growing space on a fig that will never produce for me.

it doesn't need pollination its a common fig. my tree has several on it now. if your tree is young you may have some fruit drop.
