How old is your tree?

2 yrs.

This is my wife's favorite eating fig, big, juicy, figgy, sweet and a good producer.  I like it but it is at best 6 or 7th on my list.

Looks good Danny, waiting for mine to grow up.........

Nice looking figs!
Do you know why is it called Blue? Doesn’t look like blue to me :)

I don't know but I would guess that it is comparing it to a blue giant star which is quite large.

The fig can look kinda bluish but I think local conditions have more to do with it.  I cannot swear to it being true to type.  I contacted Fannick's in San Antonio and they don't stock it anymore ??? They told me there were only 3 authorized growers of the original Blue Giant so I guess there some licensing issues on it.  Whatever it is, it is a good fig.

Texas Blue Giant from apache001-2 on ebay. Going to pick them tomorrow.

Wow Penny, very nice!  Can't wait until my figs yield like this.  Is this an in-ground plant or potted and how large is it?  My figs are in pots and this year is the first time they're starting to set a lot, so maybe this year.  Did you train it to any particular form and could you post a picture of the plant?
Thank you.

Danny, is this the one that got stolen from you?  So very sad.

My Texas Blue Giant is a 3-4 ft. plant with 2 branches in a large Walmart pot started from a cutting April 2014. There were only 3 figs. As with many of my other trees, it lost most of it's large lower leaves from rust after the heavy rains in May and June. I picked them this morning fully ripe with honey coming out the end on the largest one. They were OK  - a little on the watery side but I blame my care - trying to get leaves growing again with lots of water and fertilizer.
