Texas Flooding

So how are our Texas/mid-west/Southern friends doing with all the flooding we are hearing about on the news? Hopefully you are all on high-ground and safe. Wishing you all well.

You beat me to it Sue. Our thoughts and prayers are with all our brothers and sisters out there! Be safe.

Yes wishing well to everyone in those areas

Northeast Texas on Louisiana border

Last night 6-7 inches in 4 hours, tornadoes just south (1-2 miles).
We are not experiencing the floods like Houston and Austin areas except in small localized areas.
Ground is saturated, I dug up 6 fig trees to save them.
Rain predicted for next 6 days.
unofficially, 30+ inches of rain in May, typical annual is 60 inches in my area.

Thanks for the concern.

I'm worried about my family and friends back home. I can't remember the last time it flooded that bad. Really wish I was back home.

It's hard to imagine the conditions there.  I was in Wimberley almost 18 years ago and went for a slow float down the Blanco River.  Hope everyone remains safe.

here in Nebraska for the last three years it has been just a little cooler . but more than double the normal rain ..

So far this month we have had tree times the normal rain ..  just minor flooding .

Wish all the Best

Prayers to all affected.  Joyce

It has been flooded pretty bad in downtown Austin and the major flooding was in Wimberley. Really bad there. Everyone is pulling together looking for the missing and aiding in cleanup.

We have been in a drought for so many years and to have all this rain this month is too much. The ground is totally saturated and more is expected tonight. Personally I'm not used to green grass & mosquitos, but it is good for the area. Would be better if it was spread out, but I guess you can't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Time to build or dig some reservoirs or ?
Stay safe .

Prayers to all in the flooded areas. I experienced some pretty bad floods in South Texas years ago, and these are even worse. Hard to imagine.

I just got a report that all bridges crossing into Oklahoma from East Texas are closed except the I-35. I'm up in Shreveport/Bossier City and took a few pictures.

The Red River over it's banks, the river is beyond the trees but now it's up to the levee and they are expecting 3 more feet soon.

People on the shoulder of the road on the levee fishing. I spoke to a couple of people and they said the were catching bass and catfish. One fella said they caught 300 cats a couple of days back. At the present time no one seem to be catching.

This is a rest station along the walk and bike trail which follows the river. To get to it people were wading through waist deep water.

Sunset over the river.

I've been here in N Texas - DFW area for 22 years and have never seen rain like this! I think this is the first time I experience a real spring season lasting more then a week!  I think it is the wettest April and May on record. Thankfully I am not in any flooding areas.

"Time to build or dig some reservoirs or ?"

That's what all of the lakes in Texas are!  There is only one natural lake - Caddo Lake on the Louisiana border.  The Army Corps of Engineers is controlling the "floodgates" so things don't get out of control.

Weather for the rest of the week?  Clear skies and sunshine!!
