Thank you all for the wonderful help deciding what figs to pick.

I've been using this forum as a valuable resource to start my little fig orchard.  I have finally hit the point where I have absolutely zero room left for any more varieties until next season when I move to a place where these guys will go in the ground. These things grow like weeds. Not as fast as the mulberry trees, but quick! I have a feeling once they get established in ground, I'm going to be overwhelmed with figs! I ended up with 10 different varieties for a total of 13 trees(list in signature, x2 celeste, x3 Ronde de Bordeaux). The LSU Gold, one of the Celeste, and Corkey's Honey are LOADED already. I'm very surprised.

I keep having to shift things around depending on growth habit. So far, Adriatic JH and Ronde de Bordeaux are growing the quickest. The ones mentioned above with figs have slowed down their branch growth while the figs ripen, thank goodness!

Looks like you caught the bug!! I'm glad the Adriatic Jh is growing fast for you. I got one about a month ago..

All the names you have are great varieties. The larger the container, the larger the tree. I would not go with more than five gallon containers until you have the space. They should last you for several years until you're ready to move.

Hi chadspur,
Plan for a bigger land piece . Take cuttings to keep the trees smaller. Make new potted trees with the cuttings :) .
Learn to make fig jam ... start storing empty glass recipients that you buy with honey, tomato sauce, jams ...

Having trees that make too many fruits is a nice problem to have ... Better than having fruit trees with no fruits several years in a row ...
