Thank You Package

I met Mr Slingha, aka, Tim, a couple weeks ago and was happy to help him get started with a couple trees because I enjoy doing that sort of thing when I can. There are plenty of good models for it on this forum so I am just keeping up the tradition. Tim has also taken up that tradition even as a newbie and he decided he should thank me with a variety that strangely was absent from my collection. Absent no more, I received a package from EL with 2 young Hardy Chicagos in it. Thanks Tim. That was a very kind and unexpected gesture. I really appreciate it.  More evidence of the power of  the fig to draw good people to it.

I have said this before and I will say it again,

The World leaders need to join this forum, maybe then they can learn to become model citizens like the members here.

Oh no not the world leaders, next thing you know we'll be at each others throats. Could be a reason they haven't heard the call of the fig lol

No, they would just bring new taxes, mandates ad restrictions. They would probably outlaw figs in 90% of the states.

Amen to that!!

They would force the "individual mandate" down our throats, and call it a "penalty" / "tax" if we do not buy inferior, "Brown Turkey" fig trees. You will have, and, there will be, NO OTHER CHOICES.  Then the independent "World of Figs" will be the next, unbearable, atrocity.

Happy DEPENDENCE Day....in The USSA!

I still think they can learn something from us. People can change, including politicians.

That is one thing we all like about you Rafed, you have more than the average amount of faith in people. It is refreshing. And it is sad how very little most of us believe in the world leaders, myself included. Things are so messed up all over the world, so much pain for so many people it is hard to have faith in those who cause or allow this to happen. We should all follow your lead though, maybe we can will them to do better. With that being said and with all the problems in this country, I am very grateful that I live in the USA and not anywhere else.

At this point in our economic cycle, you have no choice but to have faith.

barry - I hope you enjoy those HC.  Those were the sizes I bought in april.  Now they are over 2 feet tall and 2 of the 3 will bare figs this fall.  They grow like weeds and according to many posters on this site, its a delicious fig and a strong in-ground candidate for Philly.  I am so psyched to try my first home grown fig

Tim,

You are right, I have seen many talk about how good CH is, don't know why I haven't gotten one yet. Thanks again!

It's been a month...Are they 4 feet high yet?

BLB if its good Hardy Chicago strain you will like it.

I just wonder from EL what they have as Mike says that his sals and hardy chicago are the same. They do look very alike .
So you either have a Sals or a Hardy Chicago as they taste different on my palate.

Ray Givens described Hardy Chicago i feel best in a video i saw .

Rich Figgy Taste - mine is just as R.Givens describes.

Sals from EL that i bought as Sals in 2003 has sweet juicy taste and is very reliable and productive and does not taste like my Hardy Chicago.
Hope this helps and not confuse.

Martin,

Its funny you say that. I remember thinking the one giant leaf in the picture looks like a Sal's leaf. If it turns out to be a Sal's leaf, Barry can have one of my 3 year old HCs or replace what he's got.

I'm gonna have a wait to see what they are. Not 4 ft yet but putting on growth Tim. I think they are pushing roots as they just seem so sturdy in their pots now.
