THANK YOU! Wishes granted 2015!

I've been a forum member for just over two months and I have been so touched by how truly kind people are here. I've had people offer their time to give personalized advice, share their precious cuttings, and I love how experienced growers keep up with threads to help all of the newbies. I see in myself what I see in many of your posts. I feel like people who love to plant fruit trees are all dreamers in a way...we're always searching for something special to nurture, keep safe for the future, and share with others. To the people growing figs everywhere, growing bananas in the midwest, potted mangoes on NYC, etc...I feel like I've most definitely found some kindred spirits!

With a forum as generous as this one, I thought it might be nice to keep a thread going this year where we can all say our thank yous and highlight the good spirit of this forum.

My first thank you this year goes to Gary (figgary), who contacted me out of the blue to offer cuttings for one of the trees on my wish list. When the package came, I was shocked to find not only an extra cutting of the aforementioned variety, but a surprise cutting for a second variety in my wish list! Later I found out he had obtained that last cutting for himself, but decided to share it instead. I was speechless and truly wish I had better words to express my gratitude. Thank you so much Gary!

I think the members on this forum are great. You guys share your knowledge, experience, and cuttings freely. I've been a member for only a short time but I'm overwhelmed by your generosity. In particular, I would like to thank Eukofios. I hope I'm not embarrassing him by saying this. He had no idea who I was but he very kindly offered cuttings to a newbie out of the blue. Thank you, Daniel!

i am also new to this forum and I agree, the members of this forum are great and very generous. Not only do they provide assistance when asked, they have been doing it for years.

I've learned so much by using the search feature. The spirit and heart of this forum is wonderful, it almost reminds of a family. And like all families there are disagreements periodically but overall we're all here to learn more about fig growing, to watch out for one another, to help others when asked and to share when we're able to or when a new Unknown is found/rescued.

I hope to share cuttings from my first fig tree later this year in honor of my sister-in-laws father. It will be named Unk Portugese JB (Joao Batista). Let's hope for a great fig growing season wherever you are.
