Thanks Hermine

Well, it looks like Texas is due for some heavy rains.  This is the forecast for my area:

* EXPECT NUMEROUS BANDS OF HEAVY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO BEGIN MOVING OVER SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS LATE TONIGHT. HEAVY RAINFALL RATES OF 1 TO 3 INCHES PER HOUR WILL BE POSSIBLE. WIDESPREAD RAINS OF 2 TO 5 INCHES ARE EXPECTED... WITH HIGHER TOTALS UP TO 12 INCHES POSSIBLE BY MIDDAY WEDNESDAY.

I'm guessing most of the fig trees in south Texas have already ripened their fruit.  Since I got my trees into the ground late this year, most of them still have unripe fruit on them.  I'm guessing those (along with my pomegranates) will split from the heavy rains... and just when I was getting excited about all the heat we had this summer.  For those who don't have fruit on the trees, this is the kind of weather that Leaf Rust loves.

Hi James--Is there any way you could put drop cloths over the trees?  You know-- like bird netting?  Maybe that's a stupid thing to ask, but I just thought I'd ask...  They do have lighter plastic drop cloths.  You could poke a few small holes in them to let heat out, but if it's raining, maybe it will be cooler.

Is it from the tropical storm?  I didn't even know there was anything out there until late this afternoon.  Prayers are with everyone.

Hi Noss,

I can't do anything.  I'm traveling.  But, I think with the amount of rain that is coming, there really isn't much anyone can do but wait it out and hope for the best.

Hi James , thats a shame you wait all year and then this may happen or will.
It kinda sounds like a snow forcast that we sometimes get here.
