I suspect the NYT article below has been posted on the forum before. However, I just stumbled across it and thought of the terrible weather in 2014 that damaged so many trees. I hope we all have a moderate winter and everyone's beloved trees fare well.

Also here they say that only fig trees that survived were the ones buried in ground.
