The pinching effect can be seen in this pix:
The incipient bud growing from old wood, was ,at bottom, where red ribbon is.
Next the branch grew 5 fruits, till the yellow, ribbon, wich is:
The point of second pinching,
Then the fig grew 2 laterall branches,+ the main branch growing up.
All three were pinched again at the point where the Blue ribbon is.
Total number of fruits counted on all new branches grown from this one incipient bud:
=27 fruits.
!!!!Notice,the ripe fig,position.
It is rite under the point of my first initial pinching!!!!!!
Lower from the ripe one is the next fig ready to get ripe soon.
This is a fact, and it is proof, that the pinching forced this fruit to ripe so early.
It is July 30,and Bingo:ripe fruits start churning, one by one.
This is the first ,but there are similar ones coming on all basic branches ,(about 20),that the fig started in the Spring, and that I was doing the first pinching, arround May 25.
Not even 70 days and they are getting ripe allready.
It is true this Sommer is hot and sunny, but,I have no doubt the pinching get the fruits to ripe 2 weeks earlyer, than without pinching.
And if I would have eliminated the 2 side branches from the start,it could have been even earlyer.
In fact with elimination,of side branches, and fruits, one can get ripe fruits up to the coldest climates, like Juneau Alaska.
On the other hand not pinching and leaving all side Branches and all fruits, one will get them ripe only in southern Florida, and Central Ca.
