Living near the outter banks I have heard several people talk about the "pound fig." I understand there is someone in Ocracoke that has grown some. Someone was on the ferry this fall with a fig the size of a small orange. He said it was a Davis Island fig, so I drove out to the Davis area and bought two small trees. One still has its leaves (all my other trees have lost theirs) and it has four small figs about the size of a nickle. I don't know if this is it, but I'll keep you posted.

I'm going do a cross that I'm hoping will create 1lb figs. I have nearly 1,000 Granthams royal seedlings half should be males, I hope to get a persistent male from them. I will then cross it with the Deanna fig, which I hear is very large.

Golden riverside produces huge figs one of the largest main crop figs I grow. Figs have been watery though

The biggest fig I ever grown 212 grams, just short of half pound ,one pound = 450 grams. That was a big fig can't imagine 1 pound .

@Mario1:  What variety is that one?  I have heard that 187-25 are pretty good size, but also have a good flavor.  Seems like a lot of the really big ones are described as watery. The trick is getting a 1lb fig with good flavor and sweetness.
