The Fig Aftermath Of Hurricane Irene. Post Your Pics.

Boy that was nasty.

Could have been much, much worse.
And my heart goes out to the people that suffered real loss.
One thing I learned from all this is that Hurricanes like rooftops.
Like really, really like rooftops.

Believe it or not, not one Fig tree went flying off the roof.
I triple tied them down, weighed them, down, duck taped them down and placed tarps over some of them.
I also prayed alot.

The smallest ones I brought inside.

My most expensive one ( yeah that one ) I placed in my bathtub to be
extra careful  ;)

The wind was insane, never personally felt it that strong.
I took a couple of pics during the time the wind was not too strong for
me to be up there.

I lost a few figs and one tarp did come loose and go flying down to the street below.  Thankfully it landed on a lamp post and not on someone's  head.

Near me a couple of large oak trees went down.

One large branch coming to rest on live power lines.

it's still extremely windy here.

How did your figs do?

Glad you made it through alright. Prayers do help, so I'm praying for all the other folks that weren't as lucky as you.

Oldghost, I'm so glad everything turned out ok for your and your mom - and your trees!  I'm gonna give you 5 thumbs up for doing what you do for your tree "addiction".  On roof, in the bathtub, secret from mom, etc... - that show your perseverance and determination - and I admire that.  I was in a place we did not have any TV, Radio, Internet, etc... and did not know the hurricane was about to hit and/or where until Sunday night!

However, even though it wasn't designed to be funny, but I got a chuckle from the title to your other post.

A Hurricane Is Coming And I Have 26 Fig Tress On My Roof...

I'm 55 years old and have not heard that comment, nor did I ever expect to hear it!
