The Fig Galaxy

I came across this spread called "The Fig Galaxy" at my local market yesterday. I guess I don't get out much, and maybe this sort of stuff is more common than I know, but it is a first for me. The ingredients are: figs, sugar, lemon juice. It claims to be low sugar, but I wouldn't want it any sweeter.

My wife and I enjoyed breakfast this morning with some Ezekiel raisin toast, soft chevre goat cheese, all topped with this spread. Yummy!

Well Paul,
I must not get out much either, I've never seen this before. It looks delicious and I think I'll try to find some. Where did you buy it?

Very cool !! Hopefully you can make your own someday soon.

I got it at Major Market in Fallbrook, CA. The only other Major Market is in Escondido, CA. So, I'm afraid that's not very useful information for most of you.

Nice find, and a great way to enjoy figs, other than fresh

It's online as well. I know nothing about this place, but they do carry it:

Cyberfarmer,  Hi,  I'm and ex-neighbor  I lived for 35+ years in Valley Center . You must be growing some good figs there.

Several stores hear carries fig spread a different brand and seems common.

I've seen around 40 different brands of fig spread / jam / preserves / compote.  But I've never seen that particular brand before.  Sounds like a good one.

But I clicked on this thread thinking I'd see something about some astronomical object(s)!  (The difficulty with searching for such a thing is that "fig" is an abbreviation for "figure", so you find tens of thousands of false hits among that astronomy sites if you search on "galaxy astronomy fig").

In addition to the link that Gina posted, this same brand is available from another vendor through Amazon:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B003QSA9SQ/ref=dp_olp_0?ie=UTF8&condition=all

According to the one review on Amazon, this fig spread is an inferior product. I have no basis for comparison, but I like it. He complained that it went rancid after two months. On the jar, it says that once opened must be used within two weeks. Like I said, I don't get out much. Other than the fig tree I grew up with, I'm a fig neophyte.
