The future of greenhouses???

Could this be the answer to cheap power for overwintering my non-hardy varieties and getting ripe fruit from them to boot?

This seems to be an improvement over greenhouses fitted with solar panels. The 'clean' electricity generated this way could presumably provide both light and heat at virtually no cost beyond the initial capital cost of the greenhouse itself.

This is one technology I think worth tracking.

That is very very cool technology, wow!! Thanks  for posting this, it's probably gonna be a while before the price is affordable but this is just an amazing breakthrough

That is impressive, imagine high rise buildings being completely self sufficient.
Thank you for sharing this Costas.

Hey, you're welcome guys. I'm always on the lookout for breakthru technologies.

I was willing to fork out upwards of £9k (that's around $14.5k in your spondooliks) for a 3.2 x 3m solar-powered greenhouse (check out this link if you wanna see what I mean: http://www.invest-in-solar.co.uk/greenhouse.php), but the solar-powered glass looks like a better option to me. Providing it comes in at a similar or lower price-point as far power output and sq. area is concerned, then I think it merits serious consideration. Granted, not everybody will be queuing up at those prices, but once mass production comes on stream, I'm sure costs will tumble, as suggested above.
