I tend to agree . It seems like the noobs are getting caught up in the hype and getting taken for a ride .
They will look back one day and realize it , but for now they somehow believe paying hundreds of dollars for twigs is reasonable .
And Galicia Negra , why because of its pretty colours ? Please .

John,

Thanks for the support!
That was basically what I meant. :)

I agree about the taste being subjective but I also think that the growing conditions, health of the trees, pollination may do much more for the taste (and its difference) than just a fancy named variety. A California Brown Turkey is a super duper fig over here but not in other places. And people still want to get a Black Madeira and pay extra $$ while not understanding the special growing conditions and the increased heat/sun exposure needs.

call me silly, I'd like to have Galacia negra just for it's pretty colors lol, just not at those crazy prices though, much rather trade for it.

Yeap! Me too! And that is just our human nature :)
It will be probably similar to the other barry dark figs but in your mind you have a picture of the “perfect fig” and you just want it (your logic takes a hike at this point :)

In general, after the last summer, my benchmark became the Unk. Pastilliere. Any fig that comes within a mile has a chance to stay.

Ahh uk pastilliere mine is rooting quickly can't wait.
