Hello Jason, that looks like a great setup! what size pots are those? where did you buy them? They look like a great size for cuttings.

Thanks,

Jose

Jason , good looking set up . I can't wait to get more organized and here permanently in FL.

Jason,
Those grow lights really seem to work wonders.  I've seen several members useing them, and the growth and general health of the leaves really stands out.  I'm seriously thinking of making the investment at the end of this growing season, to get ready for next years cuttings.

So much for down sizing. Looking at your pics, wondering if your using much shorter cuttings. And if you are, how are you doing with this. Are you doing something different, or expermenting with new technique. I know if I want to keep up with the latest, I must check in with Dr. JV. I got your email, will figure a time to visit.

Jason,

Looks like there's a Jolly Tiger in second pix. Nice set up. I need to organize my cups better.

Luke,
In response to shorter cuttings, I try to keep all of them as short as possible.  With some cuttings that is impossible because the nodes are so far apart I wind up with an 8" or 10" cutting just to get 3 nodes.  On the other hand some cutting varities have 7 or 8 nodes on an 8" length, so they definately get cut in half yielding 3 or 4 nodes on each half (also yielding two trees !!).

CTFIGS- The pots are Hydrofarm 5x5x7 square pots. They have several advantages:
1. They are vented so the roots get some air
2. They have feet and bottom vents. I water them by pouring water in the tray not individually which saves a ton of time and keeps splashing and debris scatter to a minimum. It also keep the gnats to a minimum because top of soil is dryer.
3. Square shape is more efficient for indoor trays vs round pots.

Pattee and FOREVERFIGS- Thanks! The setup is from Gardeners.com it was a little expensive but it sits in my office and didn't want something crappy looking in there. You can build one from parts from Home Depot for much less. They have T5 light fixtures there which work great.

lukeott- I am definitely reducing my inventory of large 20+ gallon fig trees to about 30-40 but I am still going to trial about 10-15 little guys. Same rooting technique plastic box etc and then into square pots.

Bullet- It is. Traded locally in NJ and PA area. There are some really nice collections in my area. I used to use cups but they are too much work watering, repotting, bins, etc.

Great set up but I bet your citrus want more light.  I built a simple PVC frame and have shop lights over mine.

Jason there is a Kari star fruit branch in my grow room with your name on it.

Rcantor- I have grow lights directly on top of them but next season I plan on adding some arms to my current setup and putting some t5 fixtures from Home Depot on top of the frame.

Dan- Thanks buddy!

looking good!
