Dispute of the origin of Bujassot

The origin of black fig tree in its variety and bordissot has raised controversy has concerned a portion of the population of Burjassot, Valencia town that considers such prickly as its own.  The municipality of the PP group in this town has filed a motion requesting the government team to conduct a botanical study and historical bordissot for the native variety to be declared after learning a study of the former Island Council of Eivissa i Formentera Ibizan native regarded.
The PP wants Burjassot Valencia University and make a report to the Valencia takes into account the outcome of these investigations and the literature on this topic to certify the origin of the bordissot.
The study cited pitiusa this variety was introduced by former Island Council of Agriculture, Pep Mayans, in March last year. This is a survey prepared by a grant paid with funds from the Leader Plus. This study noted that there are twenty Eivissa landraces of figs, as many of almonds, seven of peppers, three tomatoes, etc.. The study found that native varieties of figs Pitiusan are: blanca, bordissot negre, verdal, coll de dama blanca y negra, martinenca, julia, platana, morisca, alcudia, coa, oriola, cameta, albucó, rojal, sarrona y blanca poma, entre otras.
Pep Mayans explains: "What we did was a science-based work that can serve to make this variety is declared native. He did a great job and defend field where is a good study, because otherwise it would not have a scholarship its author. Obviously it needs to defend it from here, and if we get into this fight, we'll see who brings more scientific basis. "
Studies funded by Leader Plus is made from interviews with farmers, cooperative members and experts who could provide relevant information in order to describe and determine the ranges found, explained Mayans during their production. This act also emphasized the suitability of these varieties for organic production because they are highly adapted to local conditions and highlighted the possibility of making them bread with fig jam fig or higher quality to traditional farming.
The PP spokesman in Burjassot, Cristina Subiela, says there is evidence that the town grew a fig variety characterized by its "color purple, meat fat, water and its large green leaves. Ensures that there is evidence that Pope Callistus III and San Juan de Ribera ate these figs. This training has requested that the Valencian government make the necessary arrangements with the Consell to avoid being declared the fig tree native to the island of Ibiza and is safeguarded Burjassot name associated with this variety.

I had seen the pix before in discussions of the "largest" fig tree. Never knew the history.

Me too have seen that picture posted before on one of
the FF's; but cannot remember where. I also remember
seeing another b/w close-up (under the tree) pic. with
a man standing up under those (branch) supporting
wood-structures.

I wonder if that F.carica tree is still alive?

Here are some also other oldie-biggie trees...
