The Price Of Cuttings On eBay

Harvey, I understand about spending money on my passions, heheh  In my gunsafe is an absolutely beautiful Beretta O/U shotgun that I use for hunting doves, snipe and quail.  It is a work of art.  Do I need such a gun? Absolutely not!  But to hunt beautiful birds with an equally beautiful gun is, in a strange way, a way of honoring my prey.

But when I am new to rooting cuttings, getting above $20 for a pair of cuttings that may, or may not, make it began to scare me....heheheh

The sticks, by the way , were Grise St Jean -- wow, what a beautiful fig! Open Eye, so I dont know how well it'd do down here, but it is a thing of utter beauty IMO, and supposedly productive and tasty -- plus CdDG costs as much as a house payment, hahahh so that one is out of my league for now...

Hi,
Panaché is rare (and unknown ) here so no I had no cutting to play with.
One neighbor has a Panaché, but he trimmed his tree last January and burned the stems the same day.
I took that for a "Don't ask me to get some !" .
That tree produced figs here - or so it seems to me. So that encouraged me to give Panaché a try, because nevertheless I already have other strains to have good harvests.
So, yes, well worth the risk and the fun !

To me, two cuttings is worth more than one small plant but they seem to sell for about the same price.  I certainly get much better than a 50% success rate with my cuttings and they don't take me that much time or trouble to grow and I enjoy it.  Cuttings are easier to ship.  For someone who is confident in their rooting skills, they have a preference to buying cuttings and might sell the extra plant for as much as they paid for both cuttings or use it as a trading item.

I just spent $340 to have the old road bicycle from my college days rebuilt which I can't resell for this price but it was certain worth it to me!

BTW, new pedals are going under the tree. :)

Looks good. We are avid cyclists. I try to do 30 miles a couple times a week during good weather.

Nice bike, Harvey.  I managed to ride 2200 miles this year.  Labor Day weekend, a group of fourteen of us did a 350 mile ride across the Commonwealth to raise money for Stand Up 2 Cancer.

I've mostly been doing mountain bike riding but our troop (I'm an ASM) plans to do a ride of about 225 miles next summer so I decided to get back into road riding.  On Monday I met an old friend at the Post Office and he mentioned he was going for a 25-30 mile ride in a little bit even though it was raining.  He said since he's Italian it's in his blood, lol.  Anyways, he invited me to go riding with him and I may take him up on that as it would be good to have a local riding buddy, though I prefer to avoid rain....

When the hubby is training for his Ironmans he do 100 miler every weekend.... tends to scare me when he doesn't find an organized ride to do..

Ironman .. meh

that's a beauty Harvey, I understand how one can spend easy 300 for rebuilding something that brings up so much good memory...

I used to ride....but after being hit by a car - twice - I decided to give it up.  I miss the road but not the injuries.

I have thought about bicycle commuting to my school, since it is only 6 miles away and I can go through mostly residential streets... wife is not so sure that is a wise idea...
