The race is on!

Due to an oops by a moderator/owner of a fig board that shall remain nameless I found myself to be in possession of a lot of Smith and Sal's Corleone cuttings....6 cuttings of one and 8 of the other.   So I decided after reading a blog post by a notorious ex-member of this board to do an experiment.   I took half of each of the varieties and put them in bags with moss today, just the normal routine.  The other half of each I placed in cups with a 80-20 perlite peat mix and put them outside in my mister bed in almost full shade.  I mixed them in with the pots of bamboo that are in the bed currently.  The mist bed is set to come on for a minute 5 times a day and the mist heads are 7 feet up.  With the humidity here I find that is enough.

Any bets on which will root first?  Or perhaps the outside ones will just croak?  It is still coolish here with days in the high 70's to low 80's and nights in the 50's.

Bets? Thoughts?

You better have me experiment with the Smith here in zone 7 for better evaluation.  ;)   kidding...

I don't have enough experience with either method, but whatever the outcome, I'm looking forward to what happens!

What is inside temp of house?

For the next month I would say lows around 68 and highs around 80?  They are upstairs in a closet so they will be warm.  This time of year in Florida we don't run the heat much and no need to run AC yet.

I would go for inside.
Do I win a cutting if right :-)

Yes you win a brown turkey cutting! lol

Just my thinking as im not a betting man.
The ones outside once they root will soon be ahead of the ones inside for there in outdoor temps that fluctuate more and in potting mix already and should acclimate faster as opposed to the ones in moss and sealed in baggies yet to be put into cups.

I'm waiting with bated breath Wills. I am thinking about putting my cups outside after I get the rooted cuttings into them. Same as you we are warm and humid. Please keep us posted.

Wills C, Half will root and half will not. one method will work and one won't. Won't matter which method works, only that you won't have anything to compare because only one method will work. Then you will think that is the best method and the next batch won't work with that method. That's how it works. ;-))

That is sort of what I was thinking.
