The Tigers Have Landed.

Got my Two Panache Figs today.

after I spotted the UPS truck and unloaded them out of view ;)
I lost a couple  ( 4 total ) off of one tree but other than that they seemed o.k.
No leaves fell off, really packed  well, and soil was still a little moist.
Very happy;.
Leaves are a little droopy, but a good color and a lot of cluster of nice sized figs.
Will keep them well watered on the Patio  near the grow lights for a couple of days, then I will sneak one up to the roof.
One thing I am confused about is that three of them - two fallen in the box and one still on the tree were very soft and ripe looking.
My friend and I both ate them and they were GOOD.
They were smallish to med sized.
I know a Panache doesn't produce a Breba crop, so it had to be the main crop.
My question is, how could they have been ripe?
I know they came from California, but shouldn't they have still needed more time to ripen?

I would leave them in the shade to start and work them back to full light.

they are good looking figs.

Sweet. Did you ever say where you ordered them from? Did the seller make any mention of whether they are hardened off or not? They may have come straight from a greenhouse.

I am not certain what the rules are on this forum about mentioning nurseries.

I can send you a p.m.
Did not ask the seller about how it was grown.
It had a tag from another company that the place I brought it from might have gotten it from
Will call to thank about the good packing and will ask at that time.
Still can't get over the fact that the there were juicy ripe figs on that tree

I have seen plenty of nursery links here so I think it is ok. I was just curious really, my fig fund is just about dry for the year. That is amazing the trees made it in such good shape. Don't forget about mom next time you pick and maybe she will not evict the figs. Mom's favorites + your favorites = more figs total.

Wow! Those look a lot greener and healthier than mine.
Maybe I should try packing mine in a box for a week (((;
Looking good Ghost.

Okay Nick, spill the beans...where did you get them from?   We do share information like that all the time. Good experiences and bad.   Very nice looking plants, and figs.  And I agree---share your joy with your Mother.  I had the pleasure of taking my fig cuttings with me as I cared for my Mom, and she is as in love with figs now as I am.  Though, she lives vicariously through me and asks me regularly about my fig babies.

Sorry, was not trying to be sneaky, wasn't sure of the policy.
I got them from Cliftons in California.
Dealt with Jon.
Very Nice.
Items was as pictured, they were packed well, and sent out when promised.

Nick.

Got mine from Raintree- So far a big thumbs down- I just don't like the shape or growing manner. May just take cuttings and wait.  But I am hoping for a reverse to come out.

Nick be aware of that if you don't already. You may get a branch or two eventually that comes out all green and will have all green fruit. Reverts back to original. Ripens faster and earlier.

Living in MA, I got it hoping to get the reverse out of it and the Panachee fruit just for show- Hardly a chance for it here to ripen.

Congrats Nick,

I had the pleasure of tasting one last year at Jons place and I have to tell you it was one of the best tasting figs ever.

Here in the North I don't think we will be too lucky to have have ripen but I think in my opinion every collector should have one.

Good luck with yours.

Not to impose on thread i start another thread called
"My Half Reverted Panache"
Panache  showing panache that has  1 main branch reverted and 1 main branch variegated and fruits according to each branch.
