The Ultimate Container Score

We all have have been the recipient of some free containers at some point in time,
from a handful from a nursery to maybe a van load or more.

Couple of weeks ago I was offered the ultimate free container score ............

Estimated between 800,000 - 1,200,000 containers line two sides of this building,
and in another storage pile at the rear of the facility.

Also about 50,000 Tree Pots are included in this load, here are some of them  :-)

the motherload of all pots!!!

Now you're in the nursery business!!  Figs I hope :-)

I think you need a bigger High Tunnel ! :)

NOW THAT'S A FIND OF THE CENTURY!

I hope you're going to fill them all with fig trees.

DAMN!!

Sell 600,000 of the pots and buy a bunch of 10-15 gals and 25 gals.  The other 200,000 you'll fill with plants you'll keep, of course.

Very impressive. Overwhelming in fact.

nice find

Holy cow!

This will scare some kids, they will think of some giant worms.

Wow, that's impressive.  What are the largest sizes in the stacks?
Almost makes me want the address to quickly plug into my GPS.

Andrew

Your going to need more dirt! Wow.

LOL, for someone with FigFever, that is a distinct possibility !

I actually have more 15-25 gallon containers than I need,
purchased a bunch of them a few years ago. Really don't
use this size much, as most of my mature trees (15+ years)
are now residing in 60-100 gallon containers,
which I spent over $3k on last year.

We think alike, I did trade about 550,000 containers, three truck loads
to a nursery operation.  In return I received 1,500 blueberry plants
and very good condition John Deere Gator :-)

I removed all the tree pots from the location,
probably have a little more than  80,000 tree pots,
will fill all those with figs  :-)

I took another 150,000 pots of various sizes,
and there is still another 300,000 or so containers left.

Overwhelming was how I felt when I saw this for the first time,
knew I was in trouble when I loaded a box truck full and did not
even make a dent in a small section of containers.

Round two stepped it up with tractor trailers, pallets,
shrink wrap, fork lift and lots of help, started to see progress.
Will try and finish up the rest next week.

That picture does look like giant black worms.

Which we have found in the containers,
they were red worms, but huge.
Also have found bitting ants, hornets nests,
snakes, baby pigeons, and a baby possum.

Largest size are 15 gallon containers,
they are new, unused and in the original 25 count bundles.
Total of 525 containers.

Most of the containers are 1-7 gallon in size.
Since you are local, if you need some containers,
send me a PM with the sizes and qty you want.
I will put them aside for you.
Pick up would be in Staten Island,
no charge for the containers,
as you will be charged $15 for the bridge to get here.

So you need at least 525 fig trees.  Good luck!

Yup,
working on trading the remaining containers to another operation
in exchange for  800 bales of Fafard Professional Mix.

Would be enough mix to fill little more than half the tree pots I have  :-)

To fill the rest of them would cost about 20k to buy the remaining mix :-(

Don't even want to think about what it would cost to fill all the others.

Well past that number already :-)

Personally I have little use for 15 gal,
from 1 gal  I go to 3 or 5 gal,
then up pot to 10.
From there they go into 25 gal,
can get 4 years that way before you need to root prune.

I like 15 gal for mature blueberry plants.

15 Gallon pots sell for about 10 bucks at grow shops for those growing dope (like that woman in Queens - Ha!). Maybe advertise them on Craigslist, hell if you were closer I'd buy a pile of them for you for greenhouse tomatoes.
