They have started again.

Well the long bushy tailed rodents have started again.  Found this apple on the ground.  It wouldn't make me quite so mad if they would eat the whole thing, but this is what they do around my house.  And the apples are still weeks from ripening - but I won't get a one.  Same as with my pears, and black walnuts.  Sadly, probably the same fate for my figs.  Probably have to make do with figs from the trees I know around town and dried figs from the health food and grocery stores.

You could have an apple.  You just need to buy a gun and start picking off the squirrels.

Yes to what Jason said!

Shoot them some beaches

I have a few great recipes for them suckers. One with plum jam

Waltmart has a pump pellet rifle with scope and a tin can with 200 pellets all for under $50.

You can make hat out of one and pretent you are Daniel Boone.

My little investment paid off.

Rafed is right and you can buy the crossman destroyer ex pellets that are deadly accurate!!! You can shoot out a crows eye at 100 yards with these pellets!!!

I bet they will take out windows even farther away! Get a bow and do it like a gentleman.

Just use a havaheart trap, bait it with a walnut held in place on the pressure plate with a rubber band, then you can release the offender at some distant location or drown them if you choose quickly. Only need a small trap, from Home depot or Lowes.

They sell the carbon monoxide adapters for havaharts labeled as "trash bags".

Yeah I guess you can apply one of those as well, that's another choice lol.

oh I never knew there was proper squrirel hunting etiquette bow, bb gun, shotgun, rifle, a claymore mine either way it's a dead varmint ha ha ha lmao!!!! Last I checked arrows don't exactly discriminate against what they hit!!!! A miss shot arrow is more likely to kill or seriously injure someone than a bb gun! ha ha ha bow is the "gentlemens way" too funny!!

People discriminate Will.

I have a Hoyt

Cold, Silent and Deadly!

Also cold silent and deadly!

I have an old Ben Pearson bow that I love, have not used it for pest control yet though.

Love that cat - for sale?

Hmmm.......I've got an old Bear compound with stabilizer and sights, set up for bowfishing for Carp.  Maybe the trailing line would keep the arrows from going through somebody's window or someone's body!

That's a great pic of the cat hunting!! My cat is not quite as proficient. He will chase them, but has yet to catch one, in fact I had to pull him out of a tree that he got stuck in on the chase. I'll stick to the traps.

Great shot!!

Oh, that's not my cat, just found the photo online and thought you guys would like to see. My cats do go after them but can't chase them off the deck so there is no contact. That squirrel probably got away but I doubt he will get near that cat again.

A bow fishing setup would be safer if you shorten the line, but the heavier arrows and line would slow the arrow down. I am guessing squirrels can "jump the string" pretty well. Maybe a lighter arrow and lighter line? Arrows are deadly but that is the point right; the squirrel doesn't run off wounded. Do you shoot those carp that jump out of the water? I heard they are actually really good to eat but everyone hates them so much they will not try them.

I got nailed by a beast of a different nature today.  Damned hail.  we rarely ever get hail - today's hail was almost an inch in diameter.  It looks like someone took a shotgun to my trees.

At least its not your head! ;-)

My head would've faired better.  This is what we had after less than two minutes (it went on for about 8 minutes).

Wow--your poor trees probably feel like they've been through the chipper-shredder. Hope the recovery is quick.

Wow,  we had it in the area also, but missed my house.  On the way to work this morning, I started seeing hail damage about a 1/2 mile from my house.  The talking weather heads said there had been quarter sized hail.

It was a few years ago.  My boss at the time had bought a few hundred acres which had 5 small lakes on it.  Two had more carp than he wanted.  You wait until they are up in the shallows tailing.  Some got pretty good sized.  We gave them to some poor families down the road a bit.  I've eaten them several times cooked a couple of different ways.  Can't say I'd drive miles to go get a carp dish like they do in Omaha, NE.  There was a restaurant there that appeared on DDD that had people waiting in line for a carp sandwich.  The main problem with carp apart from their shear ugliness is the bones - all throughout.  This restaurant cut multiple slices in a filet - apparently minimizes the bones.

I have a great recipe for cooking Carp!

You will need to find a Persimmon tree, cut a plank out of it about 8" wide and 12:" long, then fillet out that Carp put it on that plank, cook @ 350" in the oven for 15 minutes then when it is golden brown take it out, throw the Damn Carp away and eat that plank, that is how we do it! :))
