Well its snowing a few inches expected,here is picture of fig trees with backround of snow, nothing to do here but wait till warmer weather, even home opener Chicago White Sox MLB Baseball game was cancelled tomorrow and rescheduled for Tuesday.

Here is picture of pussy willow tree sure looks pretty when we have a NORMAL spring with its nice looking pink buds when they open yes this is the pink type.
 Nothing to do here but wait

And now 2 hours later . I heard a noise and to my dismay i now had plenty to do, so i went out with bow saw to cut several branches that were on top rail of fence and will now plenty to do here when weather gets NORMAL again.

Now I believe you are also in Zone 5. My cold room for figs is surprisingly still under 45F because the nights temp stay between 25F and 32F.

Ciao Martin,  What alot of crap isn't it!!!  We have been beautiful here.  We will get just a few snow flurries tonight and tomorrow, then back to the 60's again by Thursday.   It has been nice here.  It is such a let down to see all the snow again. Will the Willow tree be okay?  It was a beautiful picture the first one, then to see it crashing down,  I feel bad.  If you trim it will it still get the pink or will it have to wait till next year.  Your figs look nice too, still sleeping?  I wish you luck, there is ALWAys something to do when you are a gardener. We had 60 mph winds the 2 days ago.  I have been busy picking up bags and beer cans that blow into my yard from the neighbors house.  They just throw their garbage in their yards, they don't use garbage cans like the rest of us, and when a good gust of wind comes, I have to pick up his garbage. I confronted him about it, he said for me to shut up, I was just a loud mouth Italian woman who should go back to Italy on the boat.  I told him I didn't arrive by boat.  I am glad we have good fences to keep us away from people like him, there are so many people like him around here. I mind my own business until I have to say something like a pregnant woman having to pick up this monsters mess, you'd think he would offer.  Well anyway, I brought the fig trees inside and I will leave them in until this front passes and hope the best for you and your trees.  God Bless,  Ciao 

Maggie the tree split completely at the base it could grow back but i have to dispose of this. Willow trees in general iv'e come to learn is soft wood and does this. Several years back i had to cut an ornamental bradford pear tree down but bigger than this one as it split during a storm also that particular type i also read because of its branching habit is very prone to splitting as well.
Yes my figs are still sleeping for now i cant seem to get them out on driveway as often as i would like to get early start this year as spring is just not cooperating so far.

Maggie what you experience is a shame, here is what happened to our family when i was younger. One summer day i was at the corner candy store as i came out there was 5 or 6 highschool teenagers wearing back then there street gang sweaters with color bands and emblems on them hanging around at the school. They said something snotty to me and i said something back being much younger and stupid. They took off running after me and i ran for dear life, back then they did not shoot people they just used knifes and stuff and or gave you a beating up. I made 4 houses down the block which was my house and got between the screen door banging on it mom answered as the teenagers just grabbed the door and she started yelling at them to go away, one of them said to mom " hey you better get inside and go cook you spaghetti or something to that effect. Soon after wards dad came home, dad and mom were both small in size but dad was mean and hot tempered. Mom told dad what happened i got wacked and he grabbed me and said " you show me these kids" We walked to corner and they were not there but around the other corner near the alley by the candy store they all were there. Dad walked up to them and said which one said that to my wife, the one that starting laughing at dad got open handed slapped across the face very hard and to my amazement they walked away. We never did get really bothered to much after that.
Your neighbor is just ignorant but somehow things come back at people like that sooner or later in one way or another fashion.
Dont let it bother you and get in trouble over it.
