I think I read last year people getting cuttings at end of Feb or mid march....
I was curious if because of the warmer than usual winter for US, that maybe they have to get cuttings out of CA before they wake up from dormancy (not sure if they are having a warmer winter like the Northeast/South US)?
Any thoughts/inside info :) ?

Mary at UC Davis told me to expect cuttings in March.   This was when she confirmed my order last October.

Sooner would be good.

hah, that reminds me if you did place an order, i would check if still have valid payment on file ...
I changed mine a few months ago because realized UPS had my old credit card # on file, My Bank merged with another bank and went from Mastercard to Visa so my # changed.

Had to cancel my main credit card last night cause someone tried to buy $1500 in music tickets. I'll update as well .... again :)

I am glad this came up because it has reminded me that I have to go to FedEx and change to my new card number!

Does anyone know how to change credit card info there? I get to my profile and all that I can seem to change is name and address and password info.

This is my first year and UCD will be the first use of this new Fedex account!

Login, select Manage at the top, then View/Pay Bills, then My Options, then Update Credit Card.  Not a very intuitive site...

But there must be something wrong with the site because everytime I try to get to this part, I get an error screen that says they are unable to process my request and to contact customer support. Always my luck! LOL!

Anyone know steps for UPS account to get Davis cuttings?,
like i thought i set it up correctly but not sure now:

I see my address info in the My UPS->Profile area (pic1).

In My UPS->My Account Summary,
I see my 6 digit My UPS account number (I gave this Account # to UC Davis), and the credit cards i have added... (pic2)

If i click the Maintain Your UPS Account link on that page (or also in My UPS menu),
i dont see my 6 digit account listed there... (pic3)

Pics attached (might need to be logged in to see them). Curious if i need to 'Add a UPS account' in the 3rd pic, or thats only for people who require UPS actually pickup stuff at their houses (via scheduled pickups etc).

I received cuttings yesterday from the USDA Germplasm in Corvalis, OR. Come on UC Davis!!

Yeh, i called them and they said my account had been de-activated.
Maybe either automatically since the original credit card was stolen (even though I put other cards on the account :( ), or maybe the charge tried to go through with the bad credit card last week, and couldn't so it also cancelled. Should take 24-48hrs to get re-activated. Bleh hope they not shipping in that time period or didn't ship already... Wonder if I'd just lose the cuttings if Davis tried to charge it this week, and it couldn't go through (and if they'd let me know about that if that occurred so I could get a good credit card on file/re-activate).

Thanks. Even though that was a thread from a previous year, it seems by extrapolation that the deadline to place an order for this year is long past. 

Alan, You don't need to have a fed ex or ups shipping account but they encourage it. I've never paid for shipping the cuttings and I've been ordering from the germplasm sites for 3+ years. There was one time when I didn't receive anything so maybe I was at the bottom of the list with the lack of postal reimbursement, I don't know. UC Davis has never forgotten me though.

Gina- Jon is having a clearance sale on eBay right now, you will probably end up paying less than the Fedex shipping amount for UCD cuttings and be able to get rolling this year.

One more piece of advice for those with a UPS account. They will inactivate it if not used within 60 days and not tell you about it. Their web page is of no help. Best to call them for confirmation.

FMD, yes that UPS 60 day thing is most likely what got me :).

It is never too late too order. It is too late to get them this year. The deadline in December 1st for delivery the following season.

Beware that all of the plant material you'll get from UC Davis is infected with Fig Mosaic Virus (FMV) and will show signs of this malady in a number of ways - mottled leaves, deformed leaves, stunted growth, etc.  There is no known cure for FMV and it can spread to healthy plants/trees in your nursery.  The plant material from UCD undoubtedly may have other viruses which aren't widely documented. 

With that said, if infected/infectious material is worth obtaining to you, you may want to read this thread again, all the info you need is above. If you missed it after a second read, jump back to post #21.   It links to another thread (one of probably a half dozen you'll find here using the search feature) that will give ultra-explicit details on how to order.

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying about US Davis and all of there figs being infected with (FMV). If a member of the forum gets cuttings from UC Davis infects his whole stock- shares cuttings with other members of the forum. Are we spreading the viruses unknowingly. And how do we stop this? And how will I know if a member has UC Davis stock?

Being new to the fig world, should I get rid of the cuttings from forum members with the UCD and all the cuttings that came with that shipment?
