think UC Davis cuttings will come earller this year?

Call the Fedex customer support line. They are very helpful and can check to see if your account is set up correctly. At least you could narrow the problem down a bit.

Christy, I didn't order anything from UC Davis last year, but in 2010 my order didn't arrive until April 30th. I'm still waiting for this year's order, but based on my other experience I'm not worried. They've got a lot of orders to ship, but there's still plenty of time.

I just received notification from FEDEX on my order.   I had just about given up.

Still waiting,,,,,,,

I do not want to email UCD unless I absolutely think something went wrong, because I do not like to bother busy people,,,, but just wondering how much longer to wait?

Based on my last order, I'm going to wait until at least May 1st to follow up. Also, for anyone so inclined, they do appreciate a thank-you email after you get them. They go to a lot of work to make these cuttings so readily available.

Hey all,
just received my Davis pomegranate cuttings today. Yay!

Thank-you email sent.  And thank YOU Ken, for bringing this up.  I am ashamed to admit I hadn't sent one untill I read your post above.

My UCD cuttings (the one that I kept...it was 12" so I cut it in half and made two out of it), are bagged and allready showing root nodes.

You're welcome--I hope I get the opportunity to thank them as well! ;-)

I should have stayed patient--I sent an email yesterday to ask about the order, and it arrived today. Three of us here in Tucson ordered together, and the only variety that didn't get shipped was Ischia Black.

Hi, I'm new to the forum so this might sound like a dumb question. I ordered cuttings this year 2012 from the GRIN database, the part where it said "what is the research you will be conducting" confused me, so I just said I was a home gardener that wanted to grow figs where I lived. I received a confirmation e-mail listing the cuttings i ordered and their DFIC#. Then I received a different email with an order confirmation number from UC Davis thanking me for giving them my FedEx account number.

I never gave them an account number and on the order form I didn't see any mention of giving them an account.

Did I miss something on the GRIN order form? How do I give them them an account number? Is GRIN and UC Davis the same thing even?

The first email you received was probably automated. The second one was probably a copy and paste. Although they have been accepting orders with the now required method they have failed to include a space for shipping numbers. I'm sure it will be corrected as many others have probably done as you. If they sent you an order conformation they will send out your order at their expense or ask for a shipping account number at shipping time. This service at UC Davis is funded buy the USDA and the job security of their personnel depends on the volume of business they do. I'm sure no one there really cares what your intentions are as to the cuttings but they do have to follow USDA guidelines. In the past the shipping account number was not required and the cuttings were shipped. If you get a FEDEX account number you can easily send it to them by email.

Thanks for the help Jake. This is my first time ordering and its a bit confusing to me.

First year trying to grow figs, hope i wasn't too late i ordered cutting on Nov. 7, 2012....
