What variety is it?

Martin's Unknown

So now I've gone and picked and eaten that fruit. It was very good; I was surprised and probably should have taken pictures. I had thought it would be either not sweet or spoiled but it had a great light sweetness with plenty of rich notes. No melon taste. Even the skin was consistently sweet. The pulp was pink and plump. There were maybe a dozen small ants who looked like they didn't know what they were doing. I washed them out and off.

I cover these with an organza bag.  I don't have any molding, the bugs can't get to them and they still ripen normally.

"I cover these with an organza bag."

Bob, that's good to know. I didn't think they could ripen normally so hadn't thought to protect them. Makes sense though, as that fig had sat with insides exposed for several days at least and was still in good shape.

Now that's an OPEN eye!
