this yr is not starting off to a good figgy yr.

first i found out i sent wrong cutting to a member. then i found out i send another package to a wrong zip code. urgh... ether i'm not paying attention like i used to or this is just way things are when i get older. i forget things more easily of late. maybe i killed too many brain cells during this half of my life.

My theory is, that as long as you realise you have stuffed up, it's not dementia...yet. ;)

Me thinks it be the age,  I'm running into the same issues except I think I'm forgetting whole conversations I had with people as well.  Either that or I just learned how to tune my wife out after 20+ years of marriage :-)

LOL

Pete, mistakes do happen, especially if you are sending out different cuttings to different people.  You have to be highly organized, and most of us aren't!  The PM's can get so mixed up and your box gets full, and you might accidentally delete the one you really wanted.

Even the way I did it this year with just one variety, it was still easy to get mixed up.  I tried to copy and paste every name and address on a word doc.  Then I copied those onto address labels.  Even then, I had to print out the list and check each one off against the packages because I ended up with one extra package, and no label.  I was happy for the check off list because I found the error, but I can see how you could get mixed up for sure!

Suzi

suzi,

fig is one thing i have that doesn't give me stress. i don't sell things since i don't want that added stress.. i don't ask for shipping back since i don't want the stress.. i don't do lot of things to avoid stress. and i'm stressing out over shipping cuttings to the members. lol

i really should keep better records. but that also seems like stress. oh well.. i heard life without stress is called death.

Pete you know what they say:
Its always good to say bad thinges so that they will not happen. in my family when a new child is born they say he/she is ugly to ward off the evil spirits.....

I hope :

THIS YEAR I WILL NOT HAVE MANY FIGS

THIS YEAR MY TREES DRY UP

THIS YEAR  THE BIRDS ATTACK MY TREES

THIS YEAR  MY RDB , NIAGRA BLACK AND FEW OTHER CUTTINGS I GOT FROM A GENEROUS MEMBER WILL NOT MAKE IT

It all boils down due to (suddenly) owning way too many figs...

Pete i am with you and like the stress. without it i would be bored...

I need an attitude adjustment.  This was my first winter with baby fig cuttings in GA.  I was enjoying fun with figs very much until the insane low temps,  and the fun ended.  I felt stressed about keeping fig babies alive until last week when a pipe broke upstairs flooding bedrooms, came through the ceiling over the piano, flooded kitchen, dining room, family room,  down a heat vent and flooded the finished side of the basement.  NOW I know the meaning of stress.  Its quite a task of sorting and salvaging before the renovation begins.   I have cuttings rooting in containers and havnt the strength to pot them up.  I wonder if I could slow them down by keeping them cooler.

Soni hi , I preffer going to the dentist than hearing a quote from a plummer, they charge more than cardiac surgeons.
Hope you can do the job yourself...

Hi Soni
I am so sorry for all the awful things you are having to deal with. If it is of any comfort, please know that I am willing to share anything from my collection that you might have lost. You have been generous in the past so right now just focus on the priority of getting your home in order. This is a standing invitation to you.

We went through a similar situation a few years ago when our power was out for a week with temps below zero. Broken pipes, water everywhere, plumber fell through the ceiling, etc. It was awful. But now it is just a bad memory and is in the past. I hope your renovation moves long quickly and things get back to normal sooner rather than later.

Please private message me and let me know what you need replaced. If I have it, its yours.

Vito,  You are an absolutely, wonderful person.   What you went through was much worse than what we are.  Your's  was a life and death situation.
We're supposed to grow from adversity.  I hope I grow to have your good attitude.
Thank you for the kind offer. So far the figs are in better habitat and look in better shape then we do  :-)
God bless you,  Soni

Vito,  by the way your cuttings are now small babies in cups. I havnt lost even one.  They were in a safe room during the flood.

just tipped my Maltese Beauty cutting in a cup. dang it. it just started putting on the leave and put on the roots towards the edge of the cup. hope i didn't cut all the roots off.

Soni,
This too shall pass. Just take care with those slippery floors.

Norhayati.

soni, sorry to hear about the flood. hope everything recovers quickly.

Welcome to the club Pete. Amennnn.

paul, i lost one Niagara Black last yr due to keep knocking it off the table. today, i was rushing and knocked both MB.. good thing it wasn't on a table but on the floor. but still.. i hate knocking cups over. never know what it's going to do. i need transparent soil mix so i can see inside.

Soni I'm glad you had good luck with the cuttings.
Vito
