THREE CHEERS for the NEW FORUM MEMBERS

WELCOME !

Nice to have all the new fig forum members posting comments, asking questions, starting cuttings....all eager to taste their first really ripe figs from their trees.

Never be afraid to ask any questions.  We will try to help you all when you might have a problem.  Forget textbooks.  This is the place to learn about your fig trees and their culture.  You can't find a friendlier bunch of fellow fig enthusiasts.

Good luck with growing your new fig trees.

Frank

Welcome everyone.  Have fun!

Ask not for whom the fig grows... It grows for thee. ;)

This is a great educational forum with a lot of people
I'm glad to be here.
For 5 years I'm trying to make my fig tree to produce figs but no luck,
Herman explained me the reason :)
hopefully i will get to eat some this summer

This forum is full of information and great people.  Welcome to the bunch!

welcome to all.

WOW! Look at these great pics. Gina - absolutely beautiful with the wet look.

Gina, Maro, and Pete - what varieties are those?

Frank, you've really summed the whole thing up by saying forget textbooks. Even with all the agricultural websites and University extension pages, you learn more here from people in the trenches just doing it. All thanks to the http://www. I'm finding Youtube another fascinating way to learn how to build, grow, prune, etc.

Thanks for the great welcome!

Thanks :) Can't wait to post photos of my ripe figs.

Nice post Frank.  I will be a picture whore once my trees start producing fruit.

@ Bullet08...nice dropped-point knife...the figs too.

@ Frank the Fig...a "picture whore"....my NYC big mouth, and sense of humor, almost forced me to write some comments about your new, career choice. It's best that I keep my mouth shut. This forum is not the place to try out some new material. : ) laughing.

To all new forum members....PLEASE... Pick varieties that will do well, and ripen figs in your Climate Zones.  West-Coast, and Southern State figs will not do well in cool, short-season climates.  Don't set yourselves up for failure by choosing a variety that needs months of baking in full, hot sun, and roasting heat to ripen.

Enjoy the forum.

Frank
