Three more weeks of progress on cuttings

I've had some good growth in the past three weeks on the fig cuttings I potted in a soil mix February 10, 2013.  I don't think I will be going back to a perlite and vermiculite mix again.  I think the chunky bark mix gives a good aeration to the soil and greats pockets of humidity and air without the risk of rot to the roots.

Thanks. It's always very pleasing to see healthy rooted cuttings. :)

Thanks for posting the video. Could you explain in more detail about the chunky bark mix? I put some rooted cuttings in miracle grow potting mix (seed starting) about the same time and they are only about 1-2 inches high. How warm are you keeping them? Are you using a grow light? You definitely have just the right combination.

I sifted a bag of pine bark nuggets through 1/2 inch mesh and mixed in some organic garden soil and perlite.  It's almost like the 5-1-1 mix talked about for citrus trees in pots.  I am not using a heat mat but I did take the container off of the floor and put it on a table.  I currently have two 28 inch aquarium lights on top of the clear plexi glass I use as the cover. The lights do provide some heat.
