Tilsbury's Turkey and Friends

Good day, wasn't in the mood today to pick figs.  I just wanted some rest.  After walking around the orchard checking for coon damage (I have damage every morning!).  I picked up one pot and saw a few dark figs ripening.  They were:

Violete de Bordeaux
Tilsbury's Turkey
Sal's Corleone

So, I picked them and gave them a taste.  All were sweet but VdB beat them all.  Tilsbury Turkey came in second and Sal's C came in third.   I'm witholding water from my trees b/c we don't have rain in our forcast and too much water can ruin them.  So, some look a little weak but doing fine.

Tilsbury Turkey is a new one for me.  There isn't much out there as far as pictures and description.  So, I got myself a few trees and decided to let them grow.  The leaf pattern look like those of Nero 600M.  Are they the same?  I doubt it, but time will tell.  I bought 2 last Fall from Burnt Ridge.  They sent me a third one for free b/c it my second one was so tiny.

Guys, Tilsbury Turkey fig will be the next Ronde de Bordeaux!  Mark my word!  It is one excellent tasting fig!  And I will say one more thing about Tilbury's Turkey....these little guys produce a lot of roots for a small tree.  I repotted my 3 trees 3 times this year!  They were in half gallon containers when I got them last Fall.  Today, their in 5 gallon SWPs and doing fine.  This Fall, I plan on planting them in 25g half barrels.  The leaf patterns are from my Tilsbury's Turkey.

Here are the pics.  To enlarge them, mouse over, right click, then choose open in new tab or window.

Enjoy!

Dennis thanks for the pix and info. The leaves of the Tilsbury kinda remind me of Negronne. Does it taste similar to Negronne or Ronde de Bordeaux?

What's the difference between the two, PHD?

Nope, they all taste different. But, again, my TT is still young. VDB was sweeter and tangier. TT is a nice little tree. This tree is going to be one of the best in years to come.

Dennis I had the same problem with coon and peaches this year

Dennis, a quick google of TT suggests it was discovered in the pacific northwest.  Is that correct?  Is there any other stories/history behind this fig?  Thanks!
