To cut or not to cut - Newbie

I did cut back some branches from ground level or very low.  My longest branch is around 25 inches and my largest leaves are 5-6 inches.  I would like to keep it a bush.  Do you recommend cutting back more branches?

This is what it looks like today - full shot and ground level shot. ft070514.jpg  ftground070514.jpg

If it were mine and I wanted it in bush form to produce figs I would reduce the number of main limbs to three or four.

What is your ultimate goal? Transplant into the ground? Keep in pot and have nice looking house plant sitting by the window?

I do want to keep it in the pot in our screen enclosure.  I live in Zone 10 Florida and we get so many critters, birds,  and bugs.  I just don't want to deal with it.  I would love to keep it an attractive patio plant with the benefit of the fruit.....if I can have the best of both worlds.  I have been hesitant to cut back more as I really do not know what I am doing... and want to be cautious.

You should be able to keep it in the pot with out any problems. Getting it to produce fruit will take some work getting
it enough sun.

Dolo918,
Yes, prune it back to 4 branches off the main trunk, in a spiral or in all 4 quadrants.
then stake and train to a bush form tree... http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/show_single_post?pid=1281837862&postcount=46
Good Luck.
