To many figs to choose from! Looking for a productive tasty container friendly fig

I have been browsing through all the different fig varieties, its amazing how many there are. The only fig I am growing currently is Violette de Bordeuax.

I want to order some figs from encanto farms, once the list goes up. However I only intend to get 3 varieties. The criteria I am looking for is a tasty fig that has a decent size, productivity, and performs well in containers.

I appreciate any help with this thank you very much!

I grow them in containers and you set the bar up high in my personal opinion with the violet de bordeaux..
Mine is excellent from edible landscaping grows very well with an aggressive root system grown in a 30g container.

Just to name a few below and of course i do not grow the white types.

Also for me in my yard in my climate edible landscaping Sals bears lots of fruit in medium size and is a dark type sweet tasting fig. Its has never failed me even in the worst of years here near chicago.

Ronde de bordeaux if kept in check also in my yard is perhaps my best tasting fig to date some others may surpass not sure and grows like a weed for me but must be kept in check root wise and limb wise.

A sleeper in my book is the negretta fig plant i have come to find out last season , mine for its size produces a lot of figs that ripen here in my climate and out produced all my plants for it's size as i do not recall any other fig plant i have that ripened as many figs when this small.
The figs if left to ripen properly well on tree are very dark in color with a amber and tinge of red in it interiors . It took a few years to improve its taste for me as im picky but now im very happy with it.
The figs are small and for me i'll take a small fig over any large fig  as most large figs are not as tasty to me.

Dark Portuguese similar to hardy chicago but milder in taste produces better is another good choice and grows nice and produces well also. Held up excellent in winter storage also just like the other few i mentioned above.
I grow all mine in containers and store in attached garage .

There are some others also i have not mentioned here .

Hopping on this thread because a friend of mine would like a productive tasty container friendly fig in Colorado Springs CO.

She's a pretty good gardener and knows she'd have to roll it in and out of the garage, etc. as needed.

Any suggestions?  Thanks!

apnoist and dieseler,

Thank you for the input so far, I would be growing these figs in containers between 12-30 gal in size.

Null thats what i use the various size and up to 30g  here in full sun on hot surface no grass for an idea of how i grow mine.

Dieseler,

Do you use fabric or air pruning containers? I have been phasing out my containers in favor of fabric and have been testing out air pruning ones like superoots.
