To those who have Chiappetta/Cosenza

I've sent quite a few of cuttings and trees out the past couple years. I'm wondering if you guys are seeing breba on your trees. I have a few of this variety in my greenhouse and a few dormant in the garage. This is the only variety with a bunch of breba. Even in my garage they are dormant but starting to put out figs.
I'd imagine those in the warmer climates should have figs on their trees.
Are they doing the same at your place?

Art mine are still in a deep sleep. They're in an unattached garage with no heat source.

Looks like you'll be eating figs a lot sooner than me.

Post some pics when they get ripe, or better yet call me so I can raid the fig orchard!

Started rooting my Chiappetta yesturday. I have a lot of breba on the cuttings. It has SO much. Too bad if i put them in ground the breba will most likely die off.

Art do you have information on LC Dark?

Art, my Chiapptta doesn't have any breba yet but some do in my garage like the Lyndhurst White.

Tony,
You know you are welcome anytime. You know I'm going to try and sneak some trees in your car:)

Ed,
I found the LC Dark in a little town called Lower Chewton. It used to be a little Italian community. It is in the very small, country city of Wampum.
I think it is a Mt Etna type fig. It grows in ground and unprotected under a large pine tree.
The original owner moved out over 10 yrs ago.
I started growing it last year and ate a few figs. It's a keeper for me.

Thank you, I could't find any information on it. It sounds like a good cultivar and hardy. The figs look good! Hopefully it will root well for me.

No breba on mine yet, Art.  It's still dormant (deep sleep).  But looking forward to figs this year from that tree :-)

Mike

Art,

Darn. I'm going to have to run over to Mom's. I ran out of space in my garage and this is  one that's over-wintering there. I hope it has a surprise for me . . . .

Mike, I'm anxious to see how it grows in the heat and humidity of Georgia. Please post what you think about it this summer.

Art, so am I and will be happy to post how it does.

art, mine has few brebas on it. looking forward to them this spring. your BM is doing well. once the weather gets better, i'll ship it out :)

Thanks Pete, From what I remember the breba isn't nearly as good as the main. Like most others. But I'm going to leave them.
I think you will be pleasantly surprised with your plant. The main crop has a nice melon flavor.
