To wax or not to wax

These are my last 2 cuttings of CDDN and they are very thick like 1-1 1/2 inches thick. I waxed both ends of one of them then scraped off alittle wax and bark to expose some green and dipped in clonex. The second one has 3 cut ends on it. I waxed the top and side cut but left the bottom cut unwaxed, scraped a few strips to the green and applied clonex. I want to put one in straight course perlite and place in my bin outside to root. The second I'm going to leave in the moss until I see some roots or white root initials then put it in a 1 gallon pot with potting soil and lots of perlite. Sound like a plan? What would you do? Leave the wax, remove it, root in spag moss, go straight to potting soil with lots of perlite, straight perlite........? I want at least one of these to make it but haven't ever played with cuttings this thick, and there good ones!!!!

As long as they stay moist and have air they should do fine.  Those are primo cuttings and they should grow fast.

my gifted Desert King that I spread all over the US left me with a 1 1/2 think  foot piece. I did the same, waxed both ends, and shoved into a 5 gallon pot and put it outside, I was not going to waste time trying to fight mold... for my surprise it is putting out growth.  I assume roots are also forming... Best luck to you.
