Today I saw a new green bud growing on my O'Rourke.

today i seen that everything is still sleeping soundly in my fridged zone 6 location. about 28 degrees outside right now. it seems if we get a heat wave it last only a day or two. but the weather here still is not what it has been in years past. none of my figs are winter protected and still look good with no sign or freeze damage.

Strange weather for sure.

My powderblue rabbiteye blueberries still have most of their leaves. The Ira's also have some red leaves still hanging on.

I had all my cuttings outside the past few days and they seem to have really taken off. I keep it at 65 inside so they are usually in a slow growth environment.

Definitely warm today. I trimmed the rest of the figs.

Daydream: I know a guy who swears he had a rabbit jump on his bike. He went by a grassy area, felt a thump, started coasting, and looked down to see a furry thing with big ears clinging to his seat post sliding down towards the sprocket. He stopped and let it off.

I myself have almost been clobbered by a wild turkey.

Glad to see more cyclists in the fig gang here too.  I ride quite a bit... never made contact with many animals other than bugs, dogs, cats, and the occasional person.  (Once one of them was surrounded by a car).  Had  a couple of near misses with birds, but never actually in contact.  Scariest encounter was a near miss at center punching a deer that jumped out of roadside bushes on a 45mph downhill (glad we missed).  So how amazing that you actually collided with a bird!  Glad you're OK.

Yesterday was another warm 'un.  Lots of my figs have started budding out.  (It'll hurt a little... I know it'll be cold here again soon, so I might lose some growing tips.  Probably won't lose trees though, at least not from that).
