I am deeply sick of the rain. It's not just the figs, but the incredible fungal diseases everywhere now. Just about everything Rosacae except the pears and loquat (cross my fingers) are totally blighted and losing leaves. I picked a few of the early Petite Negri today, these are small, and they all have very tight eyes, and none of them were spoiled, thank goodness. PN seems much more resistant to splitting than VdB--it takes an incredible amount of rain to get them to do that. However, the taste were fairly bland, dry, with only a bit of perky tart-sweet. I picked them early, but there just wasn't the heat and dry such figs need.
